Trevor Shields passed away
Trevor Shields, the lead vocalist of the harmony group The Beltones, passed away on September 26 in Hamilton, Canada, at the age of 77. A native of Trench Town, Jamaica, Shields began his musical journey in the mid-1960s, recording solo tracks for various producers before joining The Beltones later that decade. His most celebrated musical achievement came with the group’s 1968 hit No More Heartaches, produced by Harry “Harry J” Johnson and released in the UK by Trojan Records, where it gained modest success.
Beyond music, Shields dedicated 18 years as a clerk of the court at Kingston’s Supreme Court. He continued his passion for harmony by performing with groups like True Experience and The Fantels. In the 1980s, he relocated to Toronto, Canada, becoming a fixture in the local reggae scene and collaborating frequently with the Majestic Warriors band. Shields also served the community as a customer service agent with the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy for nearly three decades.
He leaves behind a daughter, three grandchildren, and several siblings. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
