REISSUE

Coxsone Dodd selected twelve tracks for a compilation LP meant to debut in 1971 in the UK under Junior “Ashanti” Lincoln’s Bamboo label. Among the chosen songs that had already been issued on 7″ singles in the UK on Bamboo were The Heptones’ Suspicious Minds, Freddie McKay’s Sweet You Sour You, Wailing Souls’ Mr. Fire Coal Man, and Ken Parker’s Choking Kind. Unfortunately, the release by Bamboo did not occur due to the label’s bankruptcy. Three years later, in 1974, Trojan Records put out the compilation via their Attack label. After being out of print for around 50 years, Studio One has now reissued the original album themselves along with two extra tracks: Sound Dimension’s Africa Yama and an alternate version of Ken Boothe’s Moving Away. The remixed and remastered LP is available in black and limited edition green color vinyl.
