Silkkey D laid to rest with glowing tributes
There were teary eyes, including his mom Queen Alma Robinson, as the casket took centre stage and mourners gathered at his Thanksgiving Service at Bottom Bonnett Tabernacle Church on Wednesday, July 14, 2024.
On a gloomy day, when the sun seemed dull and droopy with dark clouds overhanging like a cliff, family members wore pink, the favourite colour of Silkkey D, which showed how much he had meant to them.
His sister Angie describing the day as “bittersweet” explained that “We will never see him again but sweet because of the life he had lived.”
She extended her tribute representing Gary Thompson as:
G for Gracious
A for Ambitious
R For Respectful
Y for Youthful
T for Tremendous
H for Honesty
O for Obedient
M for Meek
P for Punctual
S for Sincere
O for Optimistic
N for Neat.
Those who jetted from abroad to pay their last respect included his classmates. Their record of Silkkey D never had a scratch from verse to chorus.
“He was an athlete winning races and represented in football, Charlemont High School where he attended,” they shared.
Entertainers Tony Curtis and Jigsy King were in attendance.
The sermon, delivered by Bishop A. Thompson of the Bible Tabernacle Seventh Day Adventist Church, stressed that those who live for Christ will be resurrected.
Heather Virgo, who watched the funeral on YouTube, cried while promising to keep Silkkey D’s memory alive through his powerful music.
Silkkey D recorded his last song, Love You Tender on Heather’s Hit Melody Records label.
