Rest in Power, Joe Lickshot
Heavy hearts in the reggae and dancehall community when sad news came that Harold “Joe Lickshot” Jackson had pased away on November 11, 2025. Most of us got to know Joe through that trademark gunshot vocal, the one that could flip a dance in a split second. He wasn’t just doing a gimmick. He carved out a style that became a staple of Jamaican sound system culture.
Joe rose during the buzzing 1970s scene, when soundmen were warriors and every dance felt like a showdown. His voice cut clean through the smoke and rum chatter, lighting up sessions with pure energy. You’d hear him everywhere, working with artists and producers across eras, always adding that spark only he could bring.
We send strength to his family and friends, and to all the fans who carried his sound in their hearts. Even though Joe Lickshot has passed away, his legacy isn’t fading. It will be there in every riddim drop and every crowd that shouts back when a soundman pulls up a tune because the vibes get too real.
