Reissue: Winston Fergus – In Ting Sound
REISSUE
Classic Tracks
Last month’s reissue of Winston Fergus’ Pay To Live by Burning Rockers, has been swiftly followed by the next welcome re-release of classic tracks from this stalwart of the UK reggae scene. This time it’s the French Jamwax label that has put out a 12″ vinyl single featuring four tracks.
A-Side
Besides the digi killer In Ting Sound, originally released in the mid-1980s as the AA side to My Own Way Heart on the singer’s own label Fergie Music, this platter includes three previously unreleased tracks. Next track on the A side is an uptempo digi tune called Mandela featuring Winston Fergus’ impassioned plea to ‘Free Nelson Mandela’.
B-Side
The B-side kicks off with a digi roots piece that contains a powerful bassline and meaningful lyrics. This song delivers a message of optimism and strength to the listener. The same riddim is used for the second track on the flip side: Finnegan aka Life All Over Dubwise. After the vocal section that dominates the first part of the track, the listener is transported into the realm of dub music.
