Reissue of the LP ‘Lee Perry Presents The Jolly Brothers – Concious Man’
REISSUE
The Jolly Brothers, a group hailing from Hellshire Beach, St. Catherine, achieved significant UK success in 1977 with their single Conscious Man, recorded at Perry’s Black Ark Studio in Kingston and released in the UK via Ballistic Records without Perry’s approval. This hit preceded a 1978 album recording session. However, the album, also titled Conscious Man (misspelt as Concious Man), remained unreleased until 1992, when Lee Perry entrusted the tracks to Tony George Owens of Sevens Leaves Records for its UK issue. Following a 2001 vinyl reissue by Roots Records, the album now sees its second re-release through Winston Edwards’ Studio 16 label.
