Rasta Blacspade calls for ‘Super Dads for Heroes Day Honours’
Some 150 Jamaicans were a part of the pomp as the curtain came down at a National Honours and Awards Ceremony in the National Indoor Sports Center on October 21, 2024.
Among those receiving awards were entertainers Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Pryce and Nadine Sutherland. They received the Order of Distinction (0.D) for outstanding contribution to the music industry.
Rasta Blacspade, one of the most vocal artistes on national issues, is recommending that more responsible fathers be awarded such recognition.
“In a country where fathers are considered irresponsible and merely sperm donors, we have the opportunity to change the script of this unfortunate story.”
“Award more men who are excellent role models for fatherhood. This should not only extend to men who are biological fathers but those who see the need to fully take up the role via adoption or otherwise.”
“There are hundreds of men who have identified children with needs and have invested in them. These are some of the children who become great leaders in society.”
“Let such an award go through a rigid selection process which examines the candidate’s morality and the ability to offer children a Christian home, along with a good education.”
“The success of a nation is built on a strong foundation, which includes the ability of men to motivate youths who will become future leaders.”
“With men dominating six to one woman receiving the highest honour in Jamaica, all effort is needed to motivate more men to aspire to greatness in all spheres of life.”
“Seven Jamaicans have so far earned the highest award of National Hero. They are Marcus Garvey, Sam Sharpe, Paul Bogle, George William Gordon, Alexander Bustamante, Norman Manley, and Nanny of the Maroons.”
“There is a call for more national heroes with Bob Marley, Usain Bolt, and Louise “Miss Lou” Bennett-Coverley among the most favored, according to national polls.”
Blacspade, managed by well-known producer Dub Chemist, is preparing to blast his seven-track ‘I Love You’ EP in October 2024.
