Quartiere Coffee – La Mia Terra
NEW RELEASE
Similar to European countries such as Spain and France, Italy serves as a fertile ground for local reggae talent. Though artists like Alborosie, Mellow Mood, and Paolo Baldini Dubfiles have gained significant fame outside their homeland, Quartiere Coffee stands out as one of the prominent acts in the Italian reggae landscape, still awaiting global recognition.
Three months back, Quartiere Coffee unveiled their fifth full-length album, La Mia Terra (meaning: My Land), a homage to the region from which the Tuscan outfit hails. This 11-track release signifies an evolution in their musical path. While reggae remains at the core of Quartiere Coffee’s sound, La Mia Terra also incorporates Mediterranean folk influences, Latin and ethnic riddims, electronic elements, and even touches of pop.
Produced by Ciro ‘Princevibe’ Pisanelli, who has been the band’s producer since their 2008 debut album In-A, this latest release features a mix of songs sung in English and in the band’s native language. It includes several collaborations as well. Spanish singer-songwriter Tonino Carotone appears on the title track, while the Italian musician-vocalist Finaz contributes to Mr. Propaganda, and Sardinian singer Forelock sings on Black Eagle. One of the most unexpected collaborations can be heard on Solomon Kingdom, where the band’s vocalists Rootman and KG Man are accompanied by Israel Vibration.
La Mia Terra is released via the La Tempesta Dub label and is available on digital platforms and CD.
