Uptown Downtown Riddim (Flashback Series)

NEW RELEASE

Donovan Germain is keeping his Flashback Series alive with a new 2026 digital drop, but it’s a bit different than the original 1994 lineup. This version of the Uptown Downtown riddim -based on Cornell Campbell’s tune Rope In– pulls in the heavy hitters you’d expect, like Buju Banton’s Why Buju Love U and Garnett Silk’s soulful A Man Is Just A Man. You also get the original 1994 cuts from Wayne Wonder and Tony Rebel, alongside Lt. Stitchie’s Envy, which was one of the foundation tunes for this session.

But Germain has added some later flavors to this collection as well. You’ll find Twiggi’s Married Man which definitely wasn’t on those first 1994 pressings, plus tracks from Mad Anju and Alley Cat that likely came from the archives or later recording sessions. It wraps up with a smooth instrumental from Dean Fraser.
