Total Hip Replacement - In Dub

NEW RELEASE

Danish crew Total Hip Replacement are one of those bands that make reggae feel open and adventurous without losing the warm pulse at the center. Their sound moves between relaxed and upbeat, with clean horn lines, tasty percussion, and a riddim section that always keeps things grounded. You can hear soul, jazz, and African vibes weaving through their songs, but it all comes together naturally.

About three years ago, they started wondering what would happen if their tunes were stripped down, stretched out, and handed to top dub producers. Aldubb was the first to jump in, reworking Disconnected from the 2020 released Bliss album. That version set things in motion. With Karsten Frehe from Irie Ites Music guiding the process, the band slowly gathered a whole crew of dub creatives and shaped it into the new release In Dub.

The record holds eight versions from producers who know how to push a tune into new territory. Aldubb is here, of course, and MF DUB brings two heavyweight cuts of his own. Hannover’s Dubvisionist adds another pair, showing why he’s been a fixture in the German reggae and dub scene for so long. There are also deep contributions from Dr. Markuse and Oliver Frost. And to top it off, Toronto’s Dubmatix flips The Door in his signature style.
