Nana EQ’s Royal Performance
Nana EQ, known for her conscious lyrics, delivered a fine performance at Pitfour Nyahbinghi Center, St.James, on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
The ‘Space and Time’ artiste was invited by black liberator Clifford Barnett, President General of the Marcus Garvey Poples Political Party (PPP).
His respect for Nana EQ comes with these words:
“Nana EQ is a promising artiste. Her works can propel people worldwide. She is influential and a powerful reggae artiste who can help and build a nation.”
The pre-Easter show had Nana EQ in fine African garb from head to toe. This, a floor-length roomy multi-coloured dress, was accentuated with matching headwrap and shoes.
Her 20-minute set was enticing from start to finish.
She opened with, ‘Mama Seh’, a song which reminded her fans that she is a born rasta without apology.
These lines tell the essence of the story:
“Mama seh from di day mi born she know seh mi a rasta…”.
Her second song, ‘Space and Time’, recorded some ten years ago, unearthed the importance of farming and the medicinal value of ganja.
She then paid tribute to the Marleys with a riveting performance of ‘Who Colt The Game’, originally done by Bob Marley & The Wailers, and covered by Rita Marley.
Blessings were in store as Nana EQ poured down ‘God’s Blessings’, a Donroy Muziq production.
According to Nana EQ, “This is my second performance at Pitfour Nyahbinghi Center. I knew the outcome would be unforgettable. Blessings to everyone who turned out.”
The event was to commemorate the 1963 Coral Gardens atrocities.
