Marlon Graham gets Aktive in the studio
Marlon Graham, a Jamaica-born US-based record producer, hopes to harness as many talented youths for his musical project.
One such youth is Julani “Aktive,” Hamilton, a product of Arnett Gardens popularly known as ‘Jungle’, a community rife with crime and violence in Kingston, Jamaica.
“Presently, I am promoting two songs from Aktive’s rich catalogue – ‘Lean Back Wid It’ and ‘Don’t Give Up’, released on my MG Promotion LLC imprint.”
“‘Lean Back Wid It’ is about having a good time with much emphasis on dancing. We want people to enjoy themselves even though there are problems. Dancing allows one to keep healthy and maintain a good state of mind.
“‘Don’t Give Up’ is a song which I had invited Aktive to write having sent him the riddim.”
In addition, Marlon has played the role of a father figure knowing that Aktive had lost his parents.
“I met Aktive when my nephew sent me a video with a girls song he had done. I loved his flow, so I decided to connect with him. This was sometime in 2021. On meeting him brought a different change in his life. I saw the energy of hope and success surrounding him. His eyes were glowing with self-confidence.”
“His story about the loss of his mother and father left an emptiness in him which I knew I had to fill. As a father figure, I decided to help him financially and otherwise.”
After Aktive had recorded his first song, Marlon’s confidence boomed, producing other songs which will be released on his album.
Aktive is featured on MG Promotion LLC medley video titled the ‘Rocky Road’. His song centers around a friend he has lost.
Aktive has recorded more than ten songs. These include ‘Rock N Move’, ‘Don’t Give Up’, ‘Lean Back Wid It’, ‘Wata Wata’, ‘Senorita’, and ‘Airforce’.
Aktive is confident that his rich lyrics and style will get him on several local shows in 2025.
