SAD NEWS

Kenneth Johnson, who’s better known by his stage name Malibu, has died on Friday, November 24th. The cause of his death is unknown. The reggae/dancehall singer from Jamaica grew up in Trenchtown. His musical journey began in 1980, singing with Alton Ellis and performing at various clubs, shows, and dancehalls. The first song Malibu recorded was Me Brok Me Na Work, but it was with his song My Friends that he achieved a moderate level of success. That song also served as the title track for his only album, My Friends Circle Jamaica. This 8-track album, mixed by Soljie, was a joint effort with deejay Early B and was released in either 1985 or 1986 on J&M, the label owned by Malibu and S.L. Morgan. In the 1980s, Malibu frequently performed alongside the Stereo One Sound System. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. R.I.E.P.
