Mackie Conscious celebrates Marcus Garvey
Mackie Conscious unwavering support for Marcus Garvey came with some powerful songs at the IRIE FM celebration for the universal black hero.
Mackie, himself an educator, opened his presentation with ‘What If’, a thought-provoking self-explanatory song.
“What if the rich becomes the poor and the poor becomes the rich?
What if the weak becomes the strong and the strong becomes the weak?
What if those with the food are fed by the ones they feed…?”
The MoBay singjay came strong with:
“Be careful how you live today
You may live to regret it tomorrow.”
He later explained that regardless of our social status the tables can turn hence we must be mindful of how we treat others in life.
However, despite our position in life which includes the loss of loved ones, sickness, and poverty we must look towards a ‘Brighter Day’, a colourful collaboration with international act Luciano.
Stems from the chorus run deep within the audience with the words:
“Brighter Day, we got to have a brighter day.
Today for me, tomorrow for you
There got to be a greater Day…”
His final compositión, ‘Can’t Be A King If You Nuh Loyal’, appealed to everyone, another message which continued his appeal to everyone, to be honest, and forthright in their mission to create a better world for everyone.
Mackie Conscious is working on his third album which he hopes to release before year end.
