REISSUE

The Jamaican singer, initially known as Junior Soul, gained international fame as Junior Murvin with his 1977 debut album Police And Thieves, which was produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry. It was not until 1982 that his second album, Bad Man Possee, was released. Produced by Mikey Dread and featuring riddims from the Roots Radics recorded at Channel One, the title track urged young men to stay away from bad posses during the turmoil the island was facing at that time.

Presented by Well Sharp Records out of San Francisco CA, this is the first-ever reissue of Junior Murvin’s sophomore LP. The album boasts songs like Guitar, a tribute to Junior’s first guitar, the heartfelt Never Fall in Love, the politically infused Rebellion, and the remarkable Man Is the Fire, all of which enhance the standout title track. Junior Murvin’s vocal performances display a doo-wop-influenced falsetto that pays homage to R&B roots while incorporating sounds of ska, rocksteady, and dub.
