Jesse Jender sadly passed away

Jamaican artist Jesse Jender, who’s also known as Congo Jesse or Black Jesse Jendah, sadly passed away at the age of 58 in the Bronx on Monday, August 7. The official cause of his death has not been disclosed yet. It is known that the talented artist had been blind for several years but despite his disability, Jesse Jender continued to create music and was a strong advocate for the legalization of marijuana, or ganja as it is commonly known in his homeland of Jamaica.

Known for delivering impactful songs such as Mark of The Beast, Oppressors, How Can A Man Kill, and Missa Prime Minister & MP, Jesse Jender hailed from Clarendon, a rural district in central Jamaica. While he started recording in the early 1980s, it wasn’t until the early 1990s that he started to gain significant recognition. At that time, he had become a member of Xterminator Records, a music label founded by producer Philip “Fatis” Burrell.

In recent times, Jesse Jender collaborated with American record labels such as Mightyful13 Records, which released his notable track Starz Of The Orion. Furthermore, his songs Kween Of The Morning Star and Hempress Of The Nile serve as heartfelt tributes to the Afrocentric woman.
