Jamaicans.com Founder Xavier Murphy Among Speakers at TEDxMiramar 2026

Jamaicans.com founder Xavier Murphy will be among the featured speakers at TEDxMiramar, scheduled for March 20, 2026, at the Miramar Cultural Center in Miramar, Florida. Murphy joins 12 speakers selected to present ideas and personal stories as part of this year’s event, themed “Elevate.”

The evening programme, which runs from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM, will bring together voices from a range of disciplines to share perspectives on leadership, education, identity, and personal transformation.

A Talk on Family Secrets and Generational Truth

Murphy’s talk, titled “Family Secrets Don’t Stay in the Past,” will explore the lasting impact that hidden family histories and silence can have across generations.

“Finding my long-lost uncle in China was a miracle, but it also taught me a hard truth: avoiding family secrets causes far more damage than the secrets themselves,” Murphy said. “I want to show others that seeking the truth is not about blame—it is about the courage to make your family whole again.”

The talk draws on Murphy’s own experiences uncovering family history and reflects a broader theme of how truth and openness can reshape relationships and identity.

He also notes that the deeper message behind the talk is about understanding the ways silence within families can shape who people become.

“I’ll be exploring the hidden ways family silence shapes who we become and why the truth is the only thing that truly lets a family belong,” Murphy said.

The Vision Behind Jamaicans.com

Murphy is the founder of Jamaicans.com, one of the longest-running online platforms dedicated to Jamaican culture and the global Jamaican diaspora. He launched the website in 1995, becoming an early pioneer in using web-based technology to connect Jamaicans living around the world.

Through the platform, Murphy has helped document and share stories from the diaspora for nearly three decades. He is also the host and producer of the popular web series “Jamaicans to the World,” which highlights the experiences of Jamaicans living in more than 100 countries. In addition, he previously served as a producer on the syndicated television programme Caribbean Diaspora Weekly.
