Fluoman was a French painter who used fluorescent paint and put his brushes at the service of reggae music. His first fluorescent paintings depicted Bob Marley, Family Man, Culture… His encounter with Cédric Myton and the Congos through the Jah Live label, with whom Fluoman worked, was decisive. During The Congos concert at La Mutualité, he exhibited his paintings and lit them up with fluo: Le Fluosystem. The friendship between Fluoman and Cédric Myton was born.

In 2005, on the death of Fluoman, his son Elijah and a few friends set up the Arc En Fluo association to honor the artist. They organized the first tribute concert in Chartres in 2006, in partnership with the Onsfoudkilao association. During the evening, The Congos (freshly reformed) delivered an anthology show, surrounded by majestic paintings by the artist. It was an opportunity for Elijah, Fabien and Fred, the founders of the association, to chat with Cédric Myton and revive his memories with Fluoman.

In 2008, the idea of a musical tribute to the painter was born. Like Fluoman, who travelled with his suitcase of paintings, the members of Arc En Fluo criss-crossed France, meeting Jamaican singers who had worked with him. Naturally, it were The Congos who recorded the first track, Call Him Father. The session took place in a hotel room after the group’s concert in Montpellier in 2008.
