During the first half of the 1970s, the Jamaican music scene saw the emergence of roots and dub as major reggae sub-genres. Phil Pratt, through his Sunshot label launched in 1969, continued to be a leading producer, releasing hits from renowned vocalists like Pat Kelly, Al Campbell, The Heptones, Horace Andy, Delroy Wilson, and Linval Thompson.
This 2CD set from Cherry Red Records showcases the best of Pratt’s work from this pivotal year, highlighting his embrace of the burgeoning roots and dub styles.
