Since 1979, Channel One Sound System has been a cornerstone of the UK reggae scene. Run by brothers Mikey Dread and Jah T, the sound took its name from the legendary Jamaican Channel One Studio. Their rise began in London’s blues parties before earning a permanent place at Notting Hill Carnival in 1983 — where they’ve played every year since. Known for conscious roots reggae, exclusive dubplates, and uplifting steppas, Channel One’s line-up features Mikey Dread with MCs Ramon Judah, Macky Banton, and Ras Kayleb. Their new release Raw Dubs Vol. 1, built and mixed by D. Mathers at Jamtone Studios and mastered by Nick Manasseh, delivers a powerful slice of sound system culture. The 12″ vinyl will hit the streets on October 17.
