Caribbean Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Experts Convene Virtual Summit as Regional Threats Escalate

The Global South Professional & Economic Network (GSPEN) will host a four half-day virtual cybersecurity summit February 2-5, bringing together technical teams and executive leadership from across the Caribbean to address ransomware and data privacy threats targeting the region’s digital infrastructure.

The Global South Cybersecurity & Data Privacy (GS-CDP) Summit 2026 focuses on what organizers call the “Legacy Trap”, organizations layering AI advancements onto aging systems without adequate defenses, making them prime targets for global cyber threats.

“The Caribbean is under-resourced and over-targeted,” said Douglas Davidson, Co-Founder of GSPEN. “Cyber threats are no longer just an IT issue. They require cross-functional collaboration from the boardroom to the server room.”

The summit features keynote speaker Niel Harper, Chief Trust Officer at Hugo, who will address “Breach Economics,” alongside regional cybersecurity leaders including Lt. Col. (Ret.) Godphey O. Sterling, Director of the Jamaica Cyber Incident Response Team, and Kellye-Rae Campbell, Group Head of Privacy at Digicel Group.

The virtual event includes hands-on sessions on AI governance, data sovereignty, and cross-functional crisis simulation. Participants completing all sessions earn a Global South Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Specialist certification of participation.

To ensure continuous defense, every registration includes complimentary 6-Month access to the Global South Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Community. Dubbed the “Defense Arsenal,” this network connects peers in 65 countries with real-time threat alerts, mentorship, and exclusive workshop discounts.
