Award-winning Jamaican filmmaker Storm Saulter, known for his impactful films Better Mus’ Come and Sprinter, is set to direct Inheritance, a five-part thriller series for Sky Television. This captivating series, written by Karla Crome, explores themes of colonial legacy, justice, and identity, and will be filmed in the United Kingdom and Jamaica.
Inheritance stars a stellar cast, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle, Surface), Jonny Lee Miller (The Crown, Elementary), and Jamaican actors Sheldon Shepherd and Shantol Jackson. Shepherd plays Cudjoe East, a mysterious Jamaican man at the center of an inheritance dispute, while Jackson portrays Sarah, adding depth to this intricate story.
The plot follows Claudia, an ambitious lawyer played by Mbatha-Raw, who travels to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim filed by Cudjoe East against a wealthy British aristocrat, Oliver Connaught, played by Jonny Lee Miller. The case takes an unexpected turn when Claudia discovers that the contested estate is tied to her family’s hidden past.
