Anthony B – World Of Love

That kind of output can be both a strength and a challenge. With so many releases behind him, Anthony B’s albums can sometimes feel uneven. But World Of Love, released via Born Fire Music and Ineffable Records, is one of his more focused and accessible recent projects.

The 16-track album doesn’t stay in one lane. Producers J-Vibe, Niko Marzouca and Jazzwad provide Anthony B with a broad musical canvas, moving between roots reggae, lovers rock, dancehall and more polished contemporary reggae. The result is varied enough to hold your attention, although not every track makes the same impact.

The album reaches one of its strongest moments with the title track, World Of Love, featuring German reggae star Gentleman. It’s a collaboration that works exactly as you’d expect. The deep, rolling bassline gives the tune a strong foundation, while the positive message of unity and peace comes across naturally rather than sounding like a slogan. Both vocalists bring their own character to the song, making it one of the album’s most immediate and memorable cuts.

Made From Love, featuring Queen Omega, is arguably even stronger. The combination of Anthony B’s fiery delivery and Queen Omega’s commanding spiritual presence works beautifully over a roots reggae backdrop. The track has depth, warmth and musical weight, and both artists sound completely at home. If you’re looking for the album’s most satisfying roots moment, this is probably it.

Another highlight is Rude Bwoy, which brings back some of the raw dancehall energy associated with Anthony B’s early career. His vocal performance is sharp and forceful, and the riddim gives him exactly the kind of space he needs to let loose. It’s not particularly groundbreaking, but it doesn’t need to be. The tune works because Anthony B still sounds completely convincing in this territory.

Little Cottage, recorded with French-Cape Verdean singer Mo’Kalamity, offers a welcome change of pace. The song’s slower, atmospheric arrangement suits its theme of escaping the noise and pressure of the modern world. Mo’Kalamity brings a gentle contrast to Anthony B’s voice, and the result is one of the album’s more thoughtful collaborations.

Big City featuring Fia, the award-winning Hawaiian singer-songwriter known for her blend of island reggae, R&B and soul, also deserves a mention. The collaboration adds a fresh dimension to the track, with Fia’s smooth vocal presence providing a welcome contrast to Anthony B’s unmistakable delivery. Lyrically, the song turns its attention to the pressures and struggles of urban life, with the tight production keeping the message focused. It doesn’t hit quite as hard as Made From Love or World Of Love, but its serious tone and sense of purpose help give the album some needed substance.

Not everything here is equally memorable. With 16 tracks, World Of Love occasionally feels longer than necessary, and some of the smoother moments don’t leave the same lasting impression as the album’s best collaborations and stronger roots cuts. The stylistic variety is welcome, but a slightly tighter track selection could have made the album even more powerful from start to finish.

Overall, World Of Love is a solid and varied album with several genuinely strong highlights. Made From Love, World Of Love, Rude Bwoy, Little Cottage, Bring Me Joy and Oh Jah are the tracks that stand out most, each showing a different side of Anthony B’s musical personality. The album may not reach the same level on every one of its 16 tracks, but its best moments are strong enough to make this a worthwhile addition to his extensive catalogue.
