Emerging from Jamaica is the up-and-coming talent Yeza, whose stage moniker is inspired by the Swahili word Yezambique, meaning Strength and Resilience. Hailing from Bull Bay, St. Andrew JA, she has earned the nicknames “Lyrical Lioness” and “Rebel Empress” for her skillful lyrics, natural melodies, powerful stage charisma, and multifaceted artistry.

Yeza embarked on her musical journey in 2017 with her debut recording Everyting Is Irie on the Hot Milk/Murderer riddim, produced by Calibud Music at the famous Bobby Digital studio in Kingston. Since then, Yeza has consistently released reggae music, demonstrating her skills as a talented singer and songwriter.

She also worked with a number of prominent artists and producers, including Monkey Marc, Blvk Hero, and Turbulence (Rebel Code), Tuff Like Iron (Golden Life), Sizzla Kalonji (Glory Remix), Jah Ova Evil Production/Supernova Productions (Rebel On The Run), Sarangetti Music (God African), Oneness Records (Rebel Empress), and UK-based producer Kholtan Entertainment (War Zone).

Yeza also partnered with Rory “Stone Love” Gilligan, a respected selector and producer based in Kingston, who has a reputation for producing great music and successfully worked with female artists like Jah9, Kristine Alicia, Nadine Sutherland, and Aleighcia Scott. This collaboration resulted in the release of several impressive singles. One standout project from their work together was the 2018 release of a blistering, bass-heavy version of Syl Johnson’s iconic civil rights soul anthem Is It Because I’m Black.

The year 2023 was a turning point for the young artist, as she released her hit song Star Of The East, which climbed the charts in Jamaica. The song reflected her upbringing in Star Lane, a hub of dancehall, reggae, and sound system culture, and touched on the struggles of living in the ghetto. Following the success of Star Of The East, Yeza and Rory Stonelove collaborated on Bullseye, a song that encouraged listeners to remain true to themselves and chase their dreams, regardless of their circumstances. Her next single, Organic, promoted a message of self-love and living a healthy lifestyle, set to a catchy beat inspired by the dancehall riddims of the 1990s.

In early 2024, the dynamic producer/singer duo unveiled their latest single, Rude, a classic one-drop reggae tune with a romantic lovers rock feel. Showcasing Yeza in a softer, more playful light, Rude marks a departure from her usual edgy and rebellious persona. With lyrics that speak to the challenges faced by modern relationships and the decline of traditional family values, the song injects a sense of pride and happiness into enduring partnerships. Building on the success of their previous releases, Yeza’s distinct vocals harmonize seamlessly with Rory Stonelove’s masterful production on this new track. All these Rory Stonelove-produced singles make that fans and reggae lovers alike are eagerly anticipating a full-length album release by the duo.
