Reggae Geel: New organisation takes over

Reggae Geel 2024

New Vision, Two Full Days (and Other Goodies)

The founders of Reggae Geel bid farewell after the 2023 edition. Over the past few months, a younger wave has swept the organisation. Result: a new Board of Directors, a brand-new Business Leader, and a reworked vision for the future. And this is immediately noticeable for the 2024 edition.

The first task of the new organisation is outlining a vision for the future. In a nutshell, Reggae Geel explores every corner of the genre and continues to spoil visitors on all fronts.

LET’S KICK OFF WITH SOME NOVELTIES
  • Reggae Geel 2024 will be a two-full-day event. On Friday, the venue will open its doors from noon. A complete lineup will rock the main stage while the Bounce Dancehall, Dub Forest, and Yagga Yagga stage launch their festivities from midday. More Reggae Geel, what could be better?
  • Diverse programming: Reggae, Dub, and dancehall remain the DNA. But the influence of Reggae goes much further than that. The evolution of recent years – borrowing from related genres – continues.
  • Something to experience in every corner: the venue will look chillier than ever, with more surprises and spots to hang out with the crew.
  • A cultural explosion: something is always happening, with side-acts and fringe entertainment around every corner.

In short, 2024 will be another memorable whirlwind of all the best that reggae, dancehall, dub, ska, rocksteady & afrobeats have to offer. Four stages, two full days, a chill crowd, and loads of sunshine: what more could anyone want?

MEET OUR NEW HEAD ORGANISER

Kris Eelen, who was the organiser and face of Reggae Geel for 45 years, passes the torch to Toon Verbeeck. Toon has volunteered at Reggae Geel for 20 years and has led the operational side as coordinator for the past five years — a familiar face and a logical choice to succeed a monument in the festival world.

“Together with the new board, we have drafted the recipes for the coming years and are preparing the ‘mise en place’ for a particularly tasty edition. It’s going to be one too for the books! I am incredibly excited to put the new course into practice with the core team, the organisation, and over 2,500 volunteers that continue to support us,” states Toon.

Toon is supported by the new Board of Directors, appointed until 2028.

EARLY BIRD TICKETS

Christmas comes early this year! They are launching ticket sales so loyal Reggae Geel fans can get their Early Bird tickets right in time for Santa. Kick-off on Friday, December 15, at 18:00!
