Eric Doumerc, a senior lecturer at the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès in France with his main research interests being Caribbean oral tradition and Caribbean music, has turned his attention to the renowned Rastafarian roots reggae singer, Burning Spear. Following his previous books on Joseph Hill & Culture and I-Roy, Doumerc has once again enlisted the contributions of David Bousquet, James Danino, and Michael Turner, with the addition of new contributor, Moqapi Selassie, a UK-based dub poet of Jamaican parentage.

After the Foreword, the book begins with Doumerc’s chapter, Spear: A Life In Music, followed by Bousquet’s Studio One Presents Burning Spear. Danino then explores Burning Spear’s self-produced works in the chapter titled Keep the Spear Burning, followed by Selassie’s contribution, Is The Spear Still Burning? and Burning Spear’s Legacy and Influence by Doumerc. The book concludes with Discography (Michael Turner and Roots Knotty Roots), Bibliography, and Contributors.

Overall, this intriguing and enlightening 88-page book caters to the interests of Burning Spear enthusiasts and reggae fans. It can be obtained as either an E-book, hard cover or paperback version.
