Treisha Williams: Extraordinary Gospel Singer and Teacher

Treisha Williams- Extraordinary gospel singer and teacher

She may not have wings, but her angelic voice is able to tower over mountains, plains, and valleys. She is a bungle of joy to those who believe faith can move mountains. If she is able to reach even one, single, solitary, sinful soul, that alone would make her day.

That voice belongs to Treisha Williams, the extraordinary gospel singer and creative teacher at Montego Bay Infant School.

Three years ago, the International University of the Caribbean Honours graduate with a B.A. degree in Teacher Education, swept the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition, emerging winner from a very competitive field.

Her song, ‘One Dose of The Holy Ghost’, had Jamaicans from all walks of life praising God. Now, she is back with another song titled, ‘True Love’.

“This is a song for everyone – women, men, the saved, and the unsaved. For leaders, including governments, and the people they lead.”

“Too many people, we see as friends, have deceived us. As human beings, there is the quest for true love. But, a great percentage of us have not experienced true love. So, I am recommending that we should now give God a chance in our lives.”

‘True Love’, recorded in Kingston, is to be released on Saturday, October 21, 2023, on all major platforms, including Spotify and iTunes.

“People will always love my songs because they are positive and inspiring.”

Her almost 20-year tenure at the Montego Bay Infant School is one part of her history-making mission.

“I wanted to work with children I could transform in a positive way. I love challenges, because some people keep believing the impossible when there are ways to make it happen.”

She has created history for herself and several students who came under her creative wings. “We have a tally of some 100 gold medals, stretched across parish and national competitions, and more than 20 trophies.” This is the talk in her town every single day of the year.

“My passion is channeling my creativity towards all children. I remember telling my peers that I wanted to send my babies (small children) to drama festival competitions. They thought it did not make much sense. But, here I am now showing off the trophies and medals they have won.”

“One has to believe that God can do the impossible. And as teachers, we are expected to motivate the people we have around us.”

Other accolades she has received include, Best National Individual Drama Coach, Best Overall Script for Drama on two pertinent themes – Easing, Teasing, Helping Student To Overcome Bullying, and We Are The Change.”

Her music career started even before she tipped her teenaged years. “It began at Kingsway Tabernacle in Pitfour, St. James. I was the first from my family to be baptized, and unlike several gospel singers, had no family influence.”

She has performed at some major shows, including Genesis, one of the biggest gospel events. Her catalogue of seven songs includes, ‘Lift Up Your Vessels To Jesus, ‘Trust In Him’, ‘Born to Save Us’, ‘Forward’. ‘Freedom’ and ‘Gods Gonna Fix It’.
