VP Records keeps pulling treasures from the vaults, this round bringing out the original 7″ and 12″ mixes of Eek-A-Mouse’s hit Wa Do Dem on digital platforms. Henry “Junjo” Lawes produced it during his unstoppable Volcano period in ’81, when Mouse was rising fast and the Roots Radics were shaping the whole sound of the era. Mouse is sharp, playful, and totally in his element, while the Radics hold down that firm rub-a-dub groove like only they could. Spin these stereo versions today and you hear just how raw, bright, and fun the track really is. It’s the same early dancehall vibe people caught on sound systems all over Jamaica, and it shows exactly why the tune connected so hard back then.
