Timmy Love promotes his second solo album

In May, Timmy Love visited Germany for shows to promote ‘Love & Unity’, his second solo album, which is scheduled for release in July. It has 11 songs, including covers of pop anthems like Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and ‘Africa’ by Toto.

The Jamaican singer, who lives in Connecticut, performed in Hannover, Dusseldorf, Paderborn and Dortmund. In the latter, he appeared at the Love, Peace and Music Festival, which had Anthony B and Eek A Mouse as headliners.

For Timmy Love, whose career has largely been in the tri-state area, spreading his wings is one way to promote ‘Love & Unity’.

“I am looking at all markets but started in Germany, but I’m also looking at other countries in Europe and places like The Gambia. The tour of Germany was triggered by DJ King Kenny and DJ Kev from Connection Radio, a big reggae radio station in Germany,” Timmy Love explained. “I must say special thanks to those brothers who love and play my music without ceasing. This was my first time in Germany and I was delighted to be there. I was overwhelmed with the love from the people and their love for my music.”

It has been seven years since ‘Time Of Your Life’, his first solo album, was released. In the interim, he has gigged throughout Connecticut, New York and New Jersey with his RefleXX Band, with whom he has recorded five albums.

He has also released several singles including ‘Love & Unity’, which is a collaboration with Luciano; ‘Toto’, ‘Forever Young’, originally done by German group Alphaville, and ‘Wake Up Everybody’, the Harold Melvin and The Blue Note standard, which he did with Big Mountain.

“I have grown significantly since my last album. I am more mature and motivated about life and loving people for who they are and accepting them regardless of their beliefs, background, ethnicity, race, colour or creed,” said Timmy Love, who is originally from St. Mary pariah in eastern Jamaica.

Religion played a major role in his upbringing in rural Jamaica. He pays homage to that faith with ‘Overcomer’ and ‘Goodness of God’, two other songs from ‘Love & Unity’.
