Kēvens and his Whirl of Music

One of man’s greatest achievements is landing on the moon, July 16, 1969. This has left the world in awe.

So, when Kēvens talks about his whirl of music, he does so with the same confidence that landed man on the moon.

Listen to Kēvens’ music and you are bound to be left in awe. His conscious soul-stirring lyrics, for all the ears and years, will leave you spellbound.

Kēvens Bendix Celestine, a bilingual conscious reggae artiste from the US, may not have Jamaican roots by birth but reggae is much in his DNA, and that makes him a solid candidate for any roll call, including the Grammy.

His parents’ lessons have surely contributed to the message which flows throughout his rich catalogue of songs.

“Mom and Dad were great disciplinarians, independent, resilient, and well-focused,” he shares.

“Mom, a fashion designer, taught us about the importance of a good education. She felt that one could escape poverty by acquiring a skill, especially one in high demand.”

“Hers was a fashion designer, making clothes which reflect the rich Caribbean culture of the French and English.”

“She made a name for herself, travelling to Canada and the United States where some of her most loyal customers live.”

“She always remind us that whatever we do, it must be done to the best of our ability, and that involves music.”

Kēvens’ ears were virtually battered by the music known in Guadeloupe and Spanish-speaking Caribbean. But this suddenly changed when his parents began to play songs like ‘Stir It Up’ by no other than international reggae star Bob Marley.

This more than stir up his imagination. It was the turning point in his life, which he describes has led him to create a world of music. So, get ready to ride on his musical train.
