Rasta Blacspade sponsors fatherless child
International Day of Charity was celebrated worldwide on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
It commemorates the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for work done in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress which also constitutes a threat to peace.
The funding was administered by triple award-winning Just for Peace International based in the Old Capital.
Applicants considered for this bursary must be in need, live in Spanish Town, or surrounding communities.
Background checks are made while parents must provide documentation, including a birth certificate and proof that the child is accepted by the institution.
Rasta Blacspade, a finalist in the 2023 IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music) competition says, “I am so happy to be giving back to someone in need of help in Jamaica.
We also know that alleviating the problems of the poor will lead to less poverty thus a reduction in crime.
“Education is very important in the lives of students. It is the foundation for building a strong and firm root leading to tertiary education and a profession in life.
“Although students are on PATH (Program of Advancement Through Health and Education), there are so many needs that parents/guardians cannot meet throughout the academic year. So, let us give with a willing heart.”
Dub Chemist, the manager/producer of Rasta Blacspade, hails the entertainer for showing love on Humanitarian Day. “He is always telling me he would love to start doing something for children in Spanish Town. So, I was not surprised when it finally happened.”
“Rasta Blacspade has a good heart and this can be seen through his many songs, such as ‘Love Over All Things’. I hope that the public will embrace these songs which teach our adults to care for those who are less fortunate,” says Dub Chemist.
Rasta Blacspade is looking forward to the release of his EP ‘Love Over All Things’. This has some six tracks, including ‘Be Like The Sea’, ‘Ambition High’, ‘Hail Jah’ and ‘Highly Favour’.
