Dan Rich left Alpha Boys’ Home with a wealth of experience having earned a highly recognized Street Wise Degree and a straight A at Alpha. This gave him an air of exuberance.

So his flight, which was launched over the Sunshine City of Portmore, promised big goals with its long uninterrupted seacoast tightly caressing the land. In addition, there was the rich resource of artistes.

Dan Rich’s musical wealth began along the Braeton strip where he met Singer J, a staple of Q45 stocks.

“I was the one who was taking Singer J to recording studios. One being Anchor Recording Studio off Old Hope Road.

“It was straight music vibes with artistes like Beenie Man, Mr. Lexx, then named Lexxus. Some recording for radio play, others for soundmen who wanted dubplates for their sound system which entertained dance sessions, here and abroad.”

“The Japanese were coming in numbers as reggae music infiltrated their shores.”

“Young entertainers wanted a slice of the cake, but it was the established artistes who could walk to the bank with a smile on their faces. They included Beenie Man, Elephant Man, and Lexxus.”

“I was learning so many things all at once, like the number of bars to a punchline and the importance of those being repeated. Then comes the chorus and verse which would follow a rhyming scheme.”

Dan Rich, under his stage name Don Sniper, recorded his first song at Anchor Recording Studio in the year 2001. The title being ‘Hello Good Looking’.

With his wide connections, Dan Rich not only recorded several other songs but also performed at stage shows.

“The Q45 crew accommodated me to rock several shows, these included Sting. This was from 2004 until right up to 2010. I love Sting because of its brand. It gives artistes a platform for the world to see them.”

“Then came the collaborations and that included ‘Hice It Up’ featuring Vybz Kartel. This was unforgettable.”
