Insects Riddim

NEW RELEASE

Remember tracks like Bounty Killer & Baby Cham’s Another Level, Baby Cham’s Ghetto Pledge, Bounty Killer’s Look Into My Eyes and Wayne Wonder’s Keep Them Coming? These tunes emerged from Dave Kelly’s 1999 The Bug riddim, which distinguished itself with a unique sound in the dancehall genre. The riddim showcased a captivatingly dark synth in the chorus, complemented by a high-pitched, swiftly plucked guitar melody.

Kemar McGregor, who is not related to reggae icon Freddie McGregor, is the next producer to hop on the current trend in dancehall music with the launch of a refixed riddim, though it’s not one he unearthed from his personal archive. Retitled the Insects Riddim, DJ Flava or Flava McGregor as he’s also known, has revitalized one of Dave Kelly’s iconic dancehall riddims, The Bug. Slightly alterated compared to the original riddim track, the Insects Riddim features 16 tracks, including the instrumental version.

Buju Banton’s track This Is Jamaica has quickly resonated with fans and radio DJs alike, leading to its entrance in the charts. In addition to Buju Banton, the deluxe edition of the one riddim album includes established artists like Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Spragga Benz, Ghost, Kiprich and I-Octane, as well as rising talents such as Nhance, Kyodi, and Yeshie Renee. Released by the producer’s Billboard King Records on all digital platforms.
