Lyndon Taylor’s journey in public relations has taken him from working at a top agency to starting his own consultancy. His story shows the ups and downs of the industry and how he adapted to new challenges.
The turning point came when a key client’s public relations account was up for review. Finn Partners, the agency where Taylor worked, decided not to repitch. Despite trying to find a new role within the agency, there were no openings, and Taylor became unemployed. After receiving a small severance package, he spent over a year searching for a new job, but nothing materialised.
During this tough period, Taylor took on a few small projects but found nothing steady or full-time. Just as his situation seemed bleak, an opportunity arose. In December, an associate, Christopher Benjamin, asked if he would like to work with L’Acadco—A United Caribbean Dance Force, which was visiting New York for a one-night tour in January. Taylor agreed, marking an important step forward.
Last month Lyndon Taylor launched his own consultancy, Lyndon Taylor & Associates, in New York City. The launch event was held at the Flatiron showroom of D’Marsh Couture and was well-received by guests and industry professionals.
“We are grateful for the support we received at our launch event,” said Taylor. “This is an exciting new chapter for us as we aim to deliver effective PR services to our clients.”
The event highlighted the consultancy’s focus on providing tailored solutions for each client. Guests from various sectors, including business, healthcare, travel, media, and entertainment, attended. They had high praises for the new entrepreneur, wishing him well in his business venture.
Heather Grant hosted the event, which featured a performance by vocalist A’Lisa. Three attendees received spot prizes, thanks to contributions from Jasmine’s Caribbean Restaurant, ROK Hotel Kingston, S Hotel Montego Bay, and VIP Attractions.
Lyndon Taylor & Associates is committed to building strong relationships, encouraging creativity, and delivering measurable results for clients. Taylor’s transition from unemployment to starting his own firm shows the importance of persistence and adapting to new opportunities.
