Kryme Rate, Jamaica’s self-acclaimed King of Karaoke, is soon to release ‘Angella’, a song for mothers.

The multi-talented contest winner from Clarendon, Jamaica, boasts ‘Too Much Killing’ on Michael “Beatbopper” Hudgins’ ‘Just for Peace International’ album.

“I want the universe to embrace ‘Angella’. She represents all the mothers of the world. It is the name of my mother who died in 2010,”

“We grew up in a number of innercity communities, including Jones Town, Marvely, and Grants Pen in Jamaica. Life was very hard without a father. I had three siblings and being the oldest had to hustle to help with the bills.”

“Our house was a one-bedroom board house with other poor tenants in the same poor conditions. Mom being a washer-woman had to work almost every day to send us to school.”

“I used to cart people goods in the busy Downtown Kingston area and it was hard. The sun was hot and the money not sufficient.”

“I always tell myself that I wanted a change and because mom, like hundreds of other moms worked so hard I wrote the song for all mothers who are in the same position.”

“This (the song) was a rough-cut copy. She listened and took it to her workplace for her friends to hear. They all say it was a good song with a strong message.”

“The song should have been released then, but it is not any fault of mine. This is a new mix, recorded at Movements Records in May Pen, Clarendon. It is expected to be released before September 2024.”

Kryme Rate, born Andre Robinson, has won over 50 Karaoke Talent contests, the most recent is the Champion Bwoy Karaoke and Talent Contest 2022. He is a member of the much respected Fully Bright school tour in Jamaica.
