Heather Virgo’s 14-track ‘Ionie’ reggae riddim has hit Amazon Cuba-Caribbean New Release Top 10 Charts. The fast-rising record producer, a Jamaican by birth now living in the US, is excited but not surprised.

“Any record producer would be happy to be in this position only weeks after its release. I am feeling good, but it does not hit me as a surprise. As a matter of fact, a good friend of mine only yesterday (July 9) called to tell me the good news. I then scrolled through Amazon’s website and confirmed what I heard.”

The compilation includes:

  • Luciano – Moving To Mount Zion
  • Tugo 4 – Life Over Vanity feat. Roland Burrell
  • Archie Wonder – Desire
  • Shalom – Pharaoh
  • Silkkey D – Love You Tender
  • Empress Radiance – Me Affi Mek It
  • Gold3n – Lonely Road
  • Kerry Lopez – Search I
  • King Majah – Maryama
  • King Malakiyah – Can’t Hide
  • Lazer Matrixx – Control Of The People
  • Ras Irie – My Heart Is Grieving
  • Royal Philosopher – Take Control
  • Steve Tulloch – True Number

The compilation recorded at Tuff Gong International credits Melbourne Miller on drums; bass – Donald Miller; guitar – Mitchell Chin; keyboard – Paul Crosdale and Wayne Holness on horns

Full credit goes to BPM Jamdung studio with backing vocalists Kelsey Wright and Delrine Billings.

‘Ionie’, her second riddim, is dedicated to her ailing mother who told her no matter the setbacks she should not give up music.

“I want my mom to be happy, and even though she is bedridden, I would sing for her and she would smile to show how much it meant to her.”

The riddim was built by the Firehouse Crew, known for their splendid work in giving that fine edge quality to international artistes, including Luciano. The crew also has a band that ranks among the best on the international platform.

The first artiste to sample the ‘Ionie’ riddim was Steve Tulloch “He should have been on my first riddim but missed that trip, so I decided to give him another opportunity.”

“All the songs on this riddim are great songs which appeal to music lovers in their own way. They are getting rotation in countries, including Canada, the United States, Japan, China, and of course all over the Caribbean.”

“I expect the riddim to hit other reggae charts in Europe where there is an increasing market for reggae music,” says Heather Virgo.
