Jamaican-born UK-based conscious reggae artiste Lyan Turbo feels ‘Cyah Be Loyal’, a collaboration with Hot Vybes, Jenuin, and Geppi Don, is relatable and should give them the foundation to spread their wings throughout the world.

“This (‘Cyah Be Loyal’) is a powerful song with a positive message that everyone can relate to. In our everyday lives, we meet both loyal and disloyal people. It is important that we know the difference between good and bad like we do with apples.”

“We have disloyal associates in business relationships, marriage, even our children can be disloyal.”

“The fact is that negativity will ruin the best of plans which we had hoped to materialise.”

“Many businesses have been closed permanently because one party decides to be disloyal. Several marriages have failed because one or both (wife or husband) becomes disloyal. Likewise, many families have been divided because one member of that family decides to be disloyal in one way or another.”

According to Lyan Turbo, “About mid-year, 2023, I got a call from Richcode, the reason being he wanted me to be a part of the “Cyah Be Loyal” project.”

“I have known Richcode since about 2016 and recall him producing a song for me titled ‘Cross Roads’.”

“I quickly jumped on this riddim, which I found to be laced with strong reggae vibes, including drums.”

“I covered the chorus, laying the foundation for the rest to follow. The lines included calling on the Almighty to Plead my Cause.”

“Richcode loved my contribution, and so too were the rest of artistes, who did a fine job on the riddim.”

“Now that the song is released, along with a music video, we have to ensure ‘Cyah Be Loyal’ gets the attention it deserves. In the UK, for example, ‘Cyah Be Loyal’ is getting good rotation on mainstream radio.”

Lyan Turbo, born Michael David St. Paul Gordon, grew up in Race Course, Westmoreland. He attended Grange Hill Comprehensive High School, migrating to the UK in 1999.”

“I released my first song, ‘Meditation’, about the ability to look into and evaluate oneself.”

“My favourite song has got to be ‘Cah Be Loyal’ because it is a song which comes from my own experiences in life.”
